All things Kate

Nerdy and Cool Dude!

In honour of the release of Kate Moss's new Topshop line last weekend, I am going to talk all things Kate. I love Ms. Moss, I think she is amazingly beautiful, even if she does have oddly spaced eyes which, in fact probably only add to her beauty, she is friggin cool and I think if she and I knew each other, we'd be friends.
There is and has certainly been for a very long time an association between models and rock stars and she's with the coolest, Pete Doherty (he's a mess but have you listened to The Libertines? No? Do it now!) Jamie Hince in the Kills, they are probably one of my all time favourite bands, for the moment at least and lets not forget the amazing video she did for The White Strips - 'I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself' , she managed to make pole dancing classy and started a whole trend that Demi Moore only wishes she could do.
Her Vogue covers are extensive, almost as much so as her ad campaigns and basically she's just a babe. Like everyone, she's had her troubles, but even still she is top of her game.
Having sad that, her line for Topshop often is ..... shit. Expenisve, bad quality and really not all that special e.g. I have one of her dresses I think from her first line, I love it, it's beautiful, all nautical and what not, not overly worn, not so long ago on the bus on my way to meet Kizzy, the strap broke, and I had to wander around town with a new strapless dress, it looked like an ultimate walk of shame I am sure. This irks me. Her new Spring/Summer collection is nice, most of it you would never see in my wardrobe, but there are a few pieces that I like, like her simple tea dresses, but the fact remains that my favourite tea dress was €10 in good auld Penneys, I am positive that Ms. Moss's is slightly more expensive.

P.S. I also love playsuits and can't wait to see Kizzy's when she visits me this weekend. Go on BUY ONE!

Seven Day Playsuit Challenge!

So, 'What is the Playsuit Challenge?' you ask. Well, here's the deal. I think this is one of my greatest ideas ever, I need to get a patent in this quick: You take seven playstuits and wear one each day of the week. Every week! SO you're never seen wearing anything but playsuits, I think it's such a cute idea.

I absolutely adore playsuits! There is something so fun and sporty about them while at the same time they are very feminine and flattering if you can choose one that suits you.

So, in honour of my new challege which I am putting forward to all of you, here are my favorite seven playsuits at the moment.

Monday
I love strapless playsuits, unfortunately with my ample bosom, lol, I often have to refrain from wearing anything strapless. I love this playsuit on the model regardless. This is the kind of outfit you'd see someone wearing at a barbecue drinking ice cold bulmers with a load of really hip friends.
Tuesday
This is the piece that I'd be most likely to buy and wear myself. The colour is vibrant and pretty and the cut is flattering to a number of body shapes.
Wednesday
This is definitely a day time suit. It's a great alternative to shorts and tee shirt for summer days. It possessess all the girly-ness of a skirt while being practical for hanging out on the beach or in the park where you'll probably end up partaking in a game of football or touch rugby.
Thursday
This little number is something I'd wear on a date. It's dressy enough to look good without looking like too much effort was involved! It's versatile enough to go from walk in the park to afternoon drinks to even a bar later on.
Friday
This is probably my favorite of them all on the model. I love the cut and the bright colours. However I think if would make me look like a frump so I doubt I'll be wearing it anytime soon...
Saturday
I really like this one because it's versatile enough to be worn during the day or at night to a club.
Sunday
This is such a lazy Sunday look! I love this piece because it's so different to all the other playsuits I was looking at. I love the faded denim giving it a worn look. However, I don't think it would be flattering on anyone who doesn't have twiggy model legs unfortunately.

Damn I wish I had the money to buy seven as cute as these... As it stands I only have one. I think a trip to Pennies is required right now!

I also need to get a pair of denim hotpants before I head off stateside. Preferably ones that are cute but are appropriate for wearing at Summer Camp! I really must go shopping and stock up on summer supplies soon...

Kizzy's 21st Birthday Celebration

I'm turning 21 at the end of June but since neither myself nor my twin will be in the country at that point, we had our 21st birthday party last night.

I had the most amazing time all thanks to my friends who attended, it wouldn't have been the same without any of them. It started off in our house where we had drinks and food. My older sisters were great working the bar and making sure everyone was looked after. Amy made a tropical punch which went down a treat with everyone! Tiger beer and outdoor lights added to the Summer feel. Unfortunately it started to rain and we had to move the party inside so any late-comers missed the great garden set up. Afterwards we went to Flannerys and then Coppers which were both really good fun I have to say.

My sister and I wore the same shoes and dress which was really fun to do. Everyone was commenting though how the outfit looked totally different though on each of us, it's funny how that is! My make up was inspired by Lady Gaga in her 'Poker Face' video.

Dress: 20euro from H&M

Shoes: 25euro from Simon Harte

The night was great. The drink was great, the food was great. My favorite people were there. I danced all night. I got my birthday kiss. I wasn't hungover the next day- Seriously, what more could I ask for?!

What I Wish I Looked Like...

Whoops, it has been a while but oh well, treat them mean keep em' keen?
I have returned to my homeland, and due to the lack of work I have taken to the 'Burren in Bloom' festival like a duck to water. Talks, walks, showcases, I am there baby!
This morning I left the house at quarter past five to try and learn some bird songs from the oh so wise and knowledgable Gordon D'Arcy, and failed miserably. I would like to blame it on the early hour but really I think I just have a bad/lazy ear when it comes to picking out different notes. Side note, on the way to the walk, I met my tall, Ballyvaughan friend, he had a pint in one hand, a smoke in the other and was heading on home after a nights drinking. Hardcore he is, jealous I am. No worky means no drinky for me. I did get to take some nice pictures, and have never before seen Loughrask at dawn before so that was nice, and I didn't feel slightly guilty that when I got home I slept until two and then had an amazing fry followed by the most beautiful Banoffee ice-cream sundae (that's saying a lot as I don't like Bananas). All in all, a nice day. Now if only I could get some work to pay for all the nice clothes and cd's I want.
Never before have I been so excited for the release of an album as I was for the new Foals album, Total Live Forever, and so far it has not let me down, it is somehow completely different from Antidotes but still sounds like Foals, it isn't boring which can often be the case and Spanish Sahara brought a tear to my eye the first time I listened to it.
I love Stella McCartney at the moment, so nice and simple and tailored and then really beautiful dresses with amazing ruffles that look completely decadent and over the top, but still I want one.

Shakes!

Shakes is the new milkshake bar which opened up on Dame street about two weeks ago. Words cannot begin to describe how excited I was for it to open- Milkshakes are one of my favorite treats. It's very hard to find a good milkshake in Dublin. The ones from Macdonalds are pretty attrocious to be honest and other restaurants are pretty expensive when it comes to milkshakes.

Sizzy and I went to get shakes the day after it opened, and the shop was pretty busy. After ordering we were exceptionally pleased that they offer a 10% student discount- Always a welcome addition!

I've had two so far since it opened. The first time I got a Cadbury's mint crisp shake with whipped creme and mini oreos on top. The whipped creme was a nice touch, but I paid 50cent extra for the mini oreos of which I think I got four biscuits, which was a bit of a rip off. Apart from that the shake was gorgeous. The second time there I got a Dime bar shake with whipped creme again. It tasted brilliant, but a bit less blending would have been nice, leaving me with a few crunchie bits, I will probably specify that to the next person making one for me. Overall it was lovely though, and not too expensive.

The only diwnside I thought was the service. The shake took a good while to make and I was standing there for a good five minutes before anyone decided to take any money off me. I presume this will get better though as the staff get accustomed to their job.

Conor and I enjoying our shakes...

On the way in we ran into a few SU Hacks (SU whores as I like to call them) who claim it's going to be their new hang-out spot. I contest this, let's make it a science thing, right?!

A bit rusty, but I'm glad to be back!

I literally just wrote this song five minutes and ago and I am so happy about it! It's not great, I did it really quickly so the lyrics are a bit dodgy in some places. I was in such a rush to finish it though because this is the first time in a long time that I've actually been able to write anything. The exam stress must finally be wearing off! (There's a bit where it jumps and leaves out a patch and makes me sound like a whining cat (0:48)...)

Really, I've had the worst writer's block I've ever experienced lately. It's probably a mixture the exams and also what's been going on lately- I havn't been a happy Kizzy lately!
But that's all changed now, this is a eucatastrophe! (Note my use of Tolkien language, nerd!)

Ignore the first few seconds, I started off on completely the wrong foot. Also ignore my dismal singing, I'm aware that I can't hit the high notes...

Food, Flowers, Fashion, Music and Men!

This was really fun to do! So, this is what my brain looks like on the inside. I'll have to get a few other people to do the same thing and then see the difference between everyone...

I'm loving Kelis' new song Acapella. I can't find the download link that I used for it, I think it must have been deleted, but you can listen to it here:

I must do a proper article soon seeing as I have free time now that exams are officially over... Watch this space!
