Nerds are cool too now!

This is Barbie after her latest makeover.
'Computer Nerd Barbie', as she will be called, comes with her own laptop and thick rimmed glasses - just like a real life nerd!

I'm really happy about this, I've emphasised for years that nerds can be sexy too... And now here's the proof!

Parsnip and Apple Soup?

My boys in their suits, handsome devils.
Cormac and his awesome 'mouse and cheese' cufflinks.
Parsnip and Apple soup and chunky chips at Avoca café, Suffolk Street.

Today, Nips and I had lunch in Avoca, we do this sometimes when we are feeling particularly flush, this feeling of wealth always disappears after having eaten in Avoca due to the horrendous prices (though not quite as horrendous as Iarnrod Eireann, penis-heads). The parsnip and apple soup was good, but sweet at the bottom, very strange for a bowl of soup or so I thought.
Anyway, did you know that I love shorts?
I love everything about shorts, once they fit well and are the right length everyone's legs look great in a pair of shorts. Currently I am lusting after a black leather pair from H&M, reasonably enough priced I think, but alas still no money.
I also love men in suits. Cormac always seems to have immaculate suits with these little touches that completely suit his personality, such as mouse and cheese cufflinks, awesome dude, awesome. I also love Ger's tux, (very top picture, on the left), I believe he got it in M&S for a pretty penny and it just fits him perfectly, tip for Trinners Ball, buy your own tux, it'll pay off in the end.
Anyway, there you go, also check out the garden collection in H&M, it seems really pretty and summer-like online, must peruse it instore, usually don't like the quality of H&M clothing, it all seems to fall apart so fast, but this organic collection might be really nice, you never know friends, oh here's the website link:
http://www.hm.com/ie/#/gardencollection/
Enjoy.

Love Life: Playing 'The Game'

Oh god, where do I start? I don't understand 'The Game'. I don't know why people do it, I don't know how people do it. The whole 'playing hard to get' thing is just a mystery to me. Now, I'm not saying that I'm easy, not at all. In fact I like to think that I am very particular in my standards when it comes to men. However, if I do meet someone that I like then I'm going to want to go and get them. If the guy I'm into texts me, then I'm going to text him back. Because I like talking to the person I like. This is just basic common sense, no?

Apparently though, I'm doing it completely wrong. The girls who have ten million males chasing them are the ones who act all aloof. He texts her, she just doesn't bother replying, he wants her more. I don't get it though... Aren't men lazy? Why would they prefer to go to all the effort of having to chase after a girl, would they not prefer that they just get what they wanted? This whole 'thrill of the chase' thing just doesn't make sense: In any other aspect of life it would be seen as wasted energy. It doesn't agree with the whole 'Darwin' way of thinking.

Why does dating have to be so complicated? Why, if I like someone, can I not just tell them? Why do men get turned off if a girl gives them the impression that she might be really into him? Do humans not like to be loved after all?

Not playing The Game has backfired on me a few times in life. I've had guys who were in to me go right off me just because I was honest. Also, if a boy doesn't reply to my messages, or doesn't try to contact me then I'm going to presume that they don't want me. I mean, in my mind, if a guy wants me, then he should come after me. After all, why wouldn't he? Sitting around playing hard to get is just going to make me frustrated, not attracted.

I'll never understand it. This one time I tried playing games, you know, like not writing back to a message for atleast two hours. It just got annoying, and it didn't work for me either. The whole thing is just really stupid, and the more girls and guys get into it the worse its going to get. I think the whole population should boycott The Game. Let's all be honest with each other from now on.

NomNomNom

The challenge, 30 epic meals in 30 days, preferably home cooked and with some nutritional value, an attempt at documenting my life through the food I eat, for example today I had a toasted cheese due to the self-induced hangover. Cheese in any form makes me much happier. As does Eddie Rockets, it seems I am now a fan of sweet potatoe fries, who would have thunk it?
The problem with loving food is it makes it slightly harder to fit into the clothes I love, the burden I bear. Example above, white bodycon dress from ASOS, the things I would do for my bum to look nice in such a dress. It is amazing. Something about white I love, very fresh and clean, reminds me of Summer.

Right so, introductions have been given, excellent. So you know, Kizzy shall be doing the majority of the writing, as I dislike expressing myself through words, and I (Sizzy) shall provide pictures of our lives, together and separately.
I shall try to keep faces out of pictures, but clearly this is going to be hard, and I shall also try to give credit where credit is due.
Currently obsessing on Marina and the Diamonds, nude colours (like everyone else it seems), correct spelling and grammar (a lifelong love affair) and lingerie, on the outside on the inside, I don't care. Have seen the most amazing lace corset bralet in tophop,
Ah also, above is 'The Legend'. A sandwich created with the help of Stoney, fried bread (all bread should most definitely be fried), fried egg, sausages, spring onion, and ballymaloe relish. Lots of relish.

Lady GaGa

You couldn't expect me to start with anything else, could you?!

Ok, so anyone who knows me will know that I have a mild obsession with Miss Stefani Germanotta aka Lady Gaga. I have downloaded her every song, I play and sing every single one of her tracks on the piano. I am in the process of learning her dance moves. If I had her body I would dress like her. When my iPod is on shuffle, every second song is a Gaga one. My Facebook statuses are about 70% purely Gaga lyrics. I quote her in daily life ("if it's not rough it isn't fun"), My alter ego, the 'Kizzy Monster', is inspired by her.

Last night one of my male friends told me that Lady Gaga reminds him of me. I think that was the single most amazing compliment that I have ever recieved (Though I'm not sure that he meant it as a compliment).

I will now attempt to explain my reasons as to why this amazing female forms such a fundamental part of my life.

She writes catchy songs which also have depth.
Generally, I class modern songs into two categories: Pop or Deep. Pop songs are those songs that get into your head for the day. They get you off your feet; you can't help but dance when you hear them. They make you smile. Deep songs on the other hand are the ones with lyrics that make you think. Or incredibly complex chord progressions that sound amazing, but just aren't as 'hookish' (Is that a word? Probably not...) as pop songs. Lady Gaga manages to fuse these two aspects together.

Take 'Bad Romance' for example. It is 100% agreed that this song is unforgettable. Even a friend of mine who doesn't listen to the radio and doesn't remember ever hearing the song found himself humming the tune of this melody to himself a few weeks ago. Upon first glance, the lyrics may seem like generic pop lines. You know, "I want you love; The touch of your hand; You know that I want you, and you know that I need you". However, upon further inspection, profound undertones may be found. This song is about overcoming the fear of love. Gaga knows that generally, finding love also means finding pain/jealousy/anger etc. This song is about knowing about the negatives of being in love, but making the decision to jump in anyway. By allowing her to be written into a 'bad romance' she is allowing herself to be vulnerable, a feat which I feel is gallant.

She isn't afraid of being different.
She teaches people to think for themselves. She is pro-freedom. At the Monster Ball everyone can be themselves. It is a place where we can go and be free and lock the doors to keep the freaks outside. After seeing her live at the end of February I felt like a different person. She was inspirational, almost superhuman in that she gave every single person in that concert hall a confidance boost and the energy to be who they are, and not who people expect them to be or want them to be. Often people say that Gaga is quite 'scary'. I believe that this is a weakness on their part. The only way someone could be intimidated by a woman who's only ambition in life is to entertain and enlighten is that they are lacking in self esteem. Gaga breaks out of the norm and people find this frightening because the unusual can be unnerving for those without fortitude. Gaga is a liberater, and those who perturbed by her are the ones who are holding us captive.

Break the chains. Gaga for life.

And so it begins...

Welcome to the most amazing blog you will ever read. This is the place where we shall be worshipping our (and most girls') five favorite things in life: Music, Men, Food, Flowers and Fashion.

Music.
Everyone loves it. There is music for every mood and music can not only accentuate a mood but also change a mood. When words fail: Music speaks. Everyday is a musical and life is my stage.

Men.
We hate them yet we love them. They are the most disgusting and frustrating creatures on the Earth and yet they are the most beautiful and time-worthy creatures on the Earth. They make us cry, but they also make us laugh uncontrollably.

Food.
Quod me nutri me destrui. Sometimes there is nothing better than eating. Sara shall be documenting her '30 Days of Epic Meals' here. As soon as Lent is over Katie shall be returning to her fast food loving ways.

Flowers.
Not the type that men give us on Valentine's day (Gimme steak and a blowjob instead anytime) - No, real flowers. As in Echium decaisnei. Or Nicotiana acuminata. Proper flowers with medicinal properties and flowers that are economically important. Botany (Or 'herbology' as we like to refer to it as) is blooming amazing.

Fashion.
I'm gonna say it now, I'm not much of an expert on fashion. Sara does fashion, Katie does sex appeal. I've no idea what is on the catwalks right now and the only time I've ever read a Vogue article was the one about poo that Sara made me read (In which she had underlined all the 'important' parts). I do love clothes though. There is no better feeling than putting on an outfit and feeling amazing and loving what you see in the mirror.

And so be it. Sizzy and Kizzy shall be the fellowship of the blog. Look forward to immense wit and insight from us both!
